Taylor v Serrano: Streaming’s Rise

Updated: Jul 25

Here’s an event that embodies everything the CSFC supports:  MVP and Netflix’s recently concluded Taylor v Serrano III.  Taylor v. Serrano III was the third most watched professional women’s sporting event in 2025!  Taylor Serrano III lost out to only the NCAA Women’s Final Four and that was distributed across America via broadcast television, not streaming on Netflix.

But wait!  What was the most watched professional women’s sporting event in 2025?  It was Taylor Serrano II which pulled in an incredible 74 Million viewers! There is ample evidence that combat sports fans wanted to see these contests.  There were actually 17 belts on the line in Taylor v. Serrano III - setting a Guinness Book of World Records Record for the most belts at stake in a given bout, so its very difficult to say the fight was not consequential. The event went off in NY consistent with the state athletic commission’s rules so according to our CSFC framework, this bout falls into the kind of combat sporting event supported by CSFC.

For the CSFC to be a credible voice with policymakers it must become a trusted resource for those debating the future structure of combat sports. Staying true to CSFC’s principles is an essential element of building that trust.
